The GFWC of North Carolina Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship (SSCS) is a 4-year scholarship awarded to an outstanding North Carolina high school senior (male or female). Students must first be sponsored by a GFWC-NC club in their local area that is participating in the scholarship process to apply. The scholarship is awarded in memory of GFWC-NC past State President Mrs. Robert R. Cotten (1911-1913).
The SWC selected Trinity Webb (North Iredell High School) for a $1,000 scholarship to attend a four-year college or university. As Trinity was also for a full two-year scholarship to attend Mitchell Community College, Trinity’s SWC scholarship will be deferred to be used within five years of 2023.
The SWC honored Trinity with a “college send-off shower” and reception during the May 4, 2023, meeting. Club members graciously gifted essential college dorm items thus reducing the financial burden of the first semester.
